"Questioning", Seven Questions to ask a Stranger

My favorite things to ask a stranger

When I attended art school in Chicago I took a music neurology class. It was all about how the mind processes music and cultures develop through individual and group experiences with music. It was an extremely interesting class. The professor showed a documentary in that class. The documentarian visits a tribe in Africa to learn about their singing. When asking one of the elders about their traditions, the tribesman says, “Young man, your questions say more about you, than my answers could ever say about me.” Here I realized the insight your own curiosity gives about your personality and thought life. Your curiosity manifested in questions tells those around you about your own interests and desires. It creates feelings of connection. Sparking an interesting conversation with a stranger can be a fun way to break the monotony. Someone who is willing to ask about the thoughts, dreams, and desires of a stranger could inspire your own ambitions. Strangers can provide amazing insight when asked an interesting question.

  4. When in your life have you felt the most human?

  5. How did you get your name? And, do you know what it means?

  6. What is a valuable lesson you learned in your childhood?

  7. What is something you feel you have accomplished recently?
